Burning a candle has greatly evolved from a decorative accent to a source of light that offers a lot of health benefits. It has a soothing effect, it stimulates the part of the brain that deals with memory and emotions. It helps regulate mood. Asides from that it has always been a necessity in our life, we use it to remember the ones we love, to feel relaxed, and of course for emergencies.

We need to be aware of what that candle we use is comprised of, as we are inhaling this product. Here is with us is Leslie Johnson, is an Education Program Manager with Edmentum, Inc, and owner and head chandler of Copper Fox Shoppe, an all-natural candle, and home accents business. She will tell us about her business and tell us about what candles are in and out!

Here are so many follow up questions I got to ask!

How/why did you start your business?

Candles have always been a part of my life, an integral part really. Not only are they affordable indulgences, but they also make great gifts and literally brighten any room. When I discovered what many commercially made candles were comprised of, I was shocked. So many chemicals and we were inhaling them, daily. Something clicked and within a month of making candles as a hobby, I established Copper Fox Shoppe.

What makes your business unique?

Making natural candles and home accents are personal and our goal is to curate products that are pleasing, aid in memory making, or are nostalgic. As chief chandler, I am tasked with creating the product line. I look at trends in fashion and nature for inspiration. Each candle is handcrafted, poured, and embellished. If someone is not happy with their CFS experience it hurts my heart, our Copper Fox family means the world to me.

What impact do you want to have in the world or change you want to see or make happen?

Soy candles produce zero petro-soot than traditional candles made from paraffin. Lower soot levels help maintain pure air quality and reduce home maintenance problems associated with soot deposits. Soy wax has given consumers the ability to burn clean-burning candles from sustainable sources. We want to leave the world knowing we did all we could to produce quality and unique products that were natural, sustainably sourced, and have limited our carbon footprint on our precious planet.

Are You Happy with your business, What makes you happy, And What Would You Change?

Overall I would say I am pleased with the direction CFS is heading. We have been in operation for two years and, despite the usual start-up challenges, we have been received well. I truly enjoy working in the "lab" cooking up new scent blends and candle designs. I love a challenge and enjoy making custom orders. Every season is different. New scents, designs, containers - I like that there are opportunities for change.

Did You Experience Failures? If So, What Did You Learn From Them

Most certainly, most of our business comes from on-site Farmers Markets and Festivals and one never knows how a day is going to go, especially during the COVID crisis. Many small businesses have suffered and CFS has seen a reduction in sales when year two should have held a promise for expanding the business, generating revenue, and refining our products.

How Did You Handle Adversity And Doubt?

I don't like the word "no" or any of the context about the inability to produce positive outcomes. As a teacher, I have seen students succeed who were previously written off as incapable or troubled. Injustice and inequality in any form hurt my heart and encourages me to do whatever I can to turn "I can't" moments into "I totally did" moments. As a small business owner and a woman, there are challenges. I am blessed to have an amazing network of friends and family who are like-minded, passionate, caring, and loyal. I feel comfortable reaching out to them for support and advice. No judgment - all honesty.

Do You Plan On Growing Your Business? How?

I would love to increase our online presence and our home accent lines. I lovingly joke with my friends about #worlddomination in the candle industry. There is a lot of joking but secretly I would love to see Copper Fox expand and provide quality, clean, affordable candles, and home accents worldwide.

Do you think self-love and trust are important in running a successful business? Why?

Absolutely. Self-love widens the door to your heart, and you act out of kindness, compassion, and joy. You focus less on what's going badly in your life and more on what's good, which brings with it a sense of gratitude. I feel passionate, inspired, and uplifted, and the best part is it came all from within! Is it always easy to practice self-love - nope? Everyone experiences challenges. It's easy to fall into the "I'll be happier when this happens or when I get that..." Sorry to say, speaking from personal experience, I am not happier and usually I am more burdened. It's taken years - almost three decades actually - to get to the point where it has finally clicked and I am prepared for more self-love and less self-criticism.

What advice would you give someone interested in starting their own business?

If you're considering starting a business and are passionate about wicks, soy blends, and mastering the perfect scent, then starting a candle business may be the perfect fit for you. It's not easy; there are several candle companies in operation currently. Perseverance is the key to keeping calm and wicking on.

And she is doing some really wonderful things in the non-toxic world. So let me bring her on, Hey, thank you so much. Pleasure. I'm so excited to be here. This is my first time.

I know. I know. And we have been friends for a really long time and we have known each other and we've gotten to see each other's journey and we are so aligned with what we're doing and your business. Well, first off you are an education program manager and they also are the owner and head. It's a Chandler Chandler. Okay. So someone who makes this candle that is a seriously old world title,

but each household way back in the medieval period had somebody who made candles and they called them a Shandler I'm old, but I learned some awesome copper Fox xAPI, which you hand-make beautiful candles, which I have a little sample here. There's moon one. And I did burn because I had to and I love it. Oh my goodness. So it looks much better when you first get it,

but I burned it beautifully. I mean, I wish you could smell it through here. It is absolutely amazing. It's got wild orange clove ginger. It's got a red Jasper crystal. It's got black mallow, black lava salt, and it's all soya hundred percent soy, which is important. It's super important. Yes. And Leslie's going to tell us all about that,

but she is a part of my new enlightened life subscription box. And all of that information is coming out and will be unveiled. But this box is all about non-toxic clean living, manifesting with the moon cycles, and really starting to tap into your own intuition. And co-create a life and business and career that you want. So I'm so excited to have Leslie on the show to tell you more,

but not only that for her to be in her pieces to be in my box because she gives so much love and care and education. Like, I mean, there's just so much that goes into your product and it pairs so beautifully with the amount of work that I passionately love about the box and the membership. So we're going to get right into it.

And thank you for being here. Thank you so much. I can't wait to have this conversation with you. You know, we've been, we've just recently become more conscious about what, you know, what goes in, like what I said, you know, about what goes in our food and where our food comes from and, and eating seasonally and growing our own gardens,

but less so about what we use to enhance our home environment, like our cleaning products and our, our lotions, our medicines, and our soaps. And I think with the crisis that we've had this year with COVID, we've had to turn to more, I would say, traditional forms of, of cleaning and taking care of ourselves because of the awareness that goes on,

you know, it's, it's amazing. We've just we've been polluting our systems for so long and we thought it was convenient, you know, and you know, and I'm not a doctor. I don't have a degree, but just from an observation in the past two years with my kids and changing the candles that I burn and the cleaning supplies that I use,

my kids are not getting sick. Like they were, they're not experiencing the respiratory issues of the sneezing and the coughing and the constant stuffiness and the allergy-related that they did before. So, you know, I don't know if it's a happy coincidence or their immune systems are just rock-solid, but I really think that it's, it's the change in how

what we're putting on ourselves and in ourselves. Well, it makes such a huge difference and we are not doctors, but, this whole topic is so important because we just need to be more conscious consumers. And we're not, we're not taught to be conscious consumers. We're taught that the ease of things is good because we're a busy society and taking time to look and read the label is like,

you know, People don't do their stuff on the backs of labels that I can't even pronounce, that you don't even recognize. And there are so many names for the same thing, you know, with sugar isn't is a big example of, you know, sugar is, you know, sucrose and glucose and blah, blah, blah, blah. And, and so it's just

if it doesn't if it has like five or, or more ingredients in it, then I'm going to question what's going on. I, I joke and say, you know, my candles have like three to four things in them. It's a hundred percent soy, which is important to know because so it can be blended with other things and you can still get those carcinogens depending on what it's blended in.

And it a label for, for a candle to be called soy. It has to, it can be, it can be 50 to 60% soy. So unless you know, that you think, Oh, I'm getting a 100%. So I candle and, and that's not necessarily the way it goes, but you know, my, my candles have soy essential oils,

a wooden wick, or a, a cotton paper, WIC and florals, and crystals. If that's embellished, I mean, then that's it. Everything you can find in nature, it's a hundred percent natural. It's not chemically modified. And that makes me happy. And when a person burns one of my candles, I want them to know that they're not ingesting and,

and chemicals and polluting their air. It just, it's so important because, you know, we breathe in so much. And, and it, it just, I understand where we went with the move to, to, you know, after the Wars, you know, to utilizing all of the various components of things. But back then, we didn't know what we know now about how,

how dangerous some of the things that we're putting in our system is We have more of a, we have more knowledge, but we also have the actual outcomes of what happens when we use those things. And the thing is, is that we are so taught to just, just follow what society is saying. Every commercial comes on for breeze, this certain candles,

I'm working to name names because it's not about the name of the candle. It's about what we have been taught that is okay for our products to have it in there. And it's not only that we're breathing it in, but we're also putting it on our skin. It's polluting the air, which in turn, if you look at the pollution of the air, all of these things are going out into the universe and we've got major,

major things happening in the world that I can't, I don't know this for a fact, because of course, I'm not a doctor or a scientist or anything like that. But if you just put two and two together to look at how much things are putting into the air and our ecosystem and the insane weather things happening. Oh yeah. There's a, there's definitely a trickle-down effect of what's going on.

It was really interesting to hear the scientists and the geologists when, when the world kind of shut down in March, April may timeframe that it was almost the earth side and relief a little bit, you know, the vibrations of the earth lessened because there were fewer cars or planes, trains, automobiles, all of that. You know, you'd got to think that our,

our trees, our lungs, basically the trees are the lungs of our planet. And the more trees we cut down, the less of our lungs, we have to use, the more pollutants we put in the air, the less, the less the cartel Finnegans and so forth that the trees can filter. So, I mean, there's just this whole effect.

And, and, you know, it starts in the home because we spend the most of that most of our time in the home and, you know, using chemicals that, that don't, that might be nice because they perfume the air, but, you know, perfumes are, are chemical. And yeah, so, you know, I'd rather just use a straight lemon and,

and some witch Hazel and, and clean up. And it gets just as clean because you've got the acid from the lemon. It might not smell all day, but at least I know that it's clean and I'm not smelling anything that's gonna cause cancer or tumors or, or any kind of reactions in my system. And I'm just speaking for me and my family.

And these are the things that we've done to change. And it's still really hard because you go into the grocery store and there are so many convenient and beautiful things, and the packaging is beautiful and the promises are great. And you know, like, Oh, you know, I just don't feel like mixing my lemon juice, with my witch Hazel today.

It's two, two steps, two steps in a spray bottle, and what could be easier. And it's certainly less expensive and I can reuse the bottle. I don't even have to throw that away. And it just kills me how much of a waste we have. And I'm speaking again for my family, it's shocking, you know, we recycle bin and our trash bins are full.

And I'm thinking, what in the world are we putting in here? You know, what all the plastic bottles and all the, all the plastic trays. And it's just it's. And I know it's, you know, BP H free and all that stuff, but it's, it's still not going to biodegrade in our landfills and all of that's leeching in.

And I feel so preachy right now, but it just hurts my heart, But you know, I and I feel the same way. And that's why I've made the changes that I have. And that's why it's so important to me to start educating the people I'm around just to be conscious. Like you don't have to do everything that I do, but I have been doing this.

Like, I've actually lived this life, switching things over for the past 11 years. And it has started, it started all with my cleaning products because my poor babies were in the bathroom with me while I was cleaning the bathroom. And I've got little Nyeema and little Leo walking around and they keep trying to come in the bathroom. And I literally told them,

I need you to get out of the bathroom. I don't want you guys breathing this stuff in for my kids. I'm like, yeah, you're throwing yourself under the bus, but you know, you want to protect them. And, and so I totally get it. I totally get it with you just went off and I'm like, well, hell I,

I don't want to bring this in either. Yeah. Whole research. And it's brought me to today. So I've researched things. I have really gone in deep to see what it is. I'm not a scientist. So I can't tell you scientifically like this chemical and this chemical, I just know here's a huge list of chemicals that keep coming out that the United States allows in our process.

Yep. That is not okay. Yeah. And are proven to cause cancers, cause health issues, rashes, and stuff. And this is crazy because my husband is sort of onboard. He grew up, you know, Fabuloso is fine to use in the house. And I'm like, you put that in my house. Yeah. Sensitive to all of it.

Like, I can't smell any of it without having a physical reaction because it's been so long. Yeah. But I noticed he went and he bought his own body wash and he started getting eczema spots again. Wow. Yeah. And you know, just as we're talking, literally this just popped into my head because I had bought a certain body wash for us for a long time.

And then I switched and mine is like lavender now. Like it's still all-natural. I was like, mom, I want to manly smell. So he goes to the store and he buys an ax. I just, gosh. Yeah. And his eczema has come back so terrible. That's not a coincidence. You don't go from a natural clean non-toxic, didn't have eczema struggled with eczema whole life.

So for him not to have it. And then all of a sudden, I mean, he's getting it and he's buffering because he goes and he wants to buy something and I can't even smell that stuff. Like it was a physical reaction. Yeah. It's super strong and, and not, not, not good. My brother told me a story is he stuffed suffered from dry skin patches too.

And I said, you know, I, I suggested that he try some of my goat milk soap and, and it's, you know, unrefined goat milk. So you get all of that wonderful anti-fungal, anti-bacterial properties in it. And there's a plant called neem and I'm sure you've heard of it. And it's really great for itches and bites and,

and dry skin. And so you get the nourishment from the goat milk and the essential and the oils that I use plus the name he's like, I don't have any skin trouble. I am not having any control. And he was using, and this is not to throw shade on anybody, but he was using old spice. And if you look at the FDA,

they consider it a high-class chemical carcinogen. And he's been, he used it for 30 years. I mean, he was very brand loyal. And he said I did not realize what I was putting on my body until you gave me your all-natural soap. And I've seen a difference with my skin. I have super sensitive skin. I'm allergic to myself.

I mean, it's so bad, so bad, but you know, my kids, they're not, they're not experiencing the dry patches, you know, especially like in between, you know, in, in the elbow area and behind the knees and those high friction areas, you know, it's, I still haven't won over my husband. He's, he's like yours,

the very hard sell. He likes what he likes, but I've just, it just, it may be viewed as a little bit more work, but that the health outcomes are, are just amazing. I mean, my kids haven't been sick in two and a half, three years and you know, other than Liam jumping off the swing set and breaking his arm in two places,

you know, that's the last time we've all visited, you know, the doctor at the hospital. And I swear it's because we're eating healthier and we're, we're actually starting to eat seasonally, which is really hard because I love asparagus and I want asparagus in the wintertime, but it doesn't grow in the wintertime. It's only open for, you know,

the growing season is only open and I know I can get it at the grocery store, but it's coming from someplace else. It's been on a truck somewhere it's, you know, flat, fresh, you know, flash frozen. So it's just a complete mindset, but people did it for hundreds of years and they didn't have all these chemicals, you know,

to in the varieties and grocery stores. I mean, you think about the country stores. It's like, you want ly soap. You either buy ly soap and it's plain, or maybe with some lavender in it or you make it and you use it to clean everything. And I think that's important to note is that for hundreds of years, we've done this.

And now we've gotten to a point where now thinking simple is a struggle for us, right? I mean, because we're so used to it, and we're trained, we are just brainwashed by the video. I mean the commercials and the ads and this and that bite, big-name companies who have said, this is fine. Why is this fine for us?

Because it makes them lots and lots of money because those products, those chemicals are less expensive and they can mass produce. Yeah. Yeah. That's one of the biggest downfalls that I've seen with, with making my candles and, and or my room sprays or, or, you know, any, any of the soaps that use the essential oils because there is definitely a difference between a fragrance oil or fragrance,

additive, and essential oil. And we can have a whole show, on them too. I'm not throwing shade again, I'd add either because people make candles out of both, but I choose to use steam, distilled essential oils. And the process is lengthy and the amount of product, we'll just say, you know, like lavender, the amount of lavender,

that wood that it takes to get, you know, a little one ounce. It's, it's a lot, it's a lot. Whereas you can go into a lab and mix a couple of chemicals and get the same scent. And it's not as expensive, but it's not clean living. It's not clean burning. It's not, it, it, I just,

I, and that's what I struggle with that. So I candles and beeswax candles that are a hundred percent. It has to be a hundred percent. If there's anything mixed in with the soy, then you take a risk. They can be expensive. And although candles can be an affordable indulgence, you have to be careful what's in them. Yeah. And not every candle company out there puts their ingredients on it.

I tell you exactly what it is. It's this, this, this, and this. And I do the research heavily on where I get my soy from us farmers, where I get my essential oils. I've even started doing my own steam distillation. It's it looks like I've got a LA lab in my face. And then, and that's what we lovingly call it.

We call it the lab and I'm down there cooking up stuff, but it's not breaking bad. It's breaking good. It's smelling good. But it's just, it's so important. It really is. And I don't care if it if you don't buy my candles, I'd love it if you did, but just be aware when you go into the stores, what it,

what the possibility is that you're bringing home. Yeah. Well, and I think that that's, what's important. Cause you said something earlier about that. It can be hard, like, and it takes a lot of research, but that's why you're doing what you're doing. You're making something that is safe and you've done other research. That's why being able to have your product is so important because now we have a place where if you know,

whoever's listening, they don't want to go and make their own candles. They can buy a safe candle. And trust me, the few dollars that it's extra will save you hundreds of dollars down the line from not having to go to the doctor for it. Really. And that's one of my big things is I make a lot of stuff. But also what my mission is to just show people,

all the research that I've done, companies who are doing good things, take out of the ocean and reusing it, not using plastics, not using the toxic things that are killing us. So my big mission is to compile that because I geek out on it. I really do Every day. It doesn't matter. I'm going to continue to research, but for people who can't or don't want to,

or don't think that it's easier fun, that's what I'm here for. I want to give them an easy way to just get started. And that's where a lot of the idea for the box came from. And that's why I'm so excited. I'm so excited about that. You are just done great things. I'm so excited for you, But having your candle in the box means something to me because we're able to collaborate and really be very intentional about working candle is for each month.

But not only that, I know that every single little piece of that candle is going to be clean. Every single thing about the box, it's either biodegradable cycled, or recyclable. And you know, there are so many things that I have put thought into to make easy for other people and each month, there's going to be this easy guide of, okay,

so this month let's just talk about getting rid of regular deodorants and what the benefit is. If changing your deodorant. One thing, focus on one thing because I know it can be overwhelming. It can be, I think that's what turns a lot of people off is they think they have to go all in all at once. And it's totally okay to go all in.

But like you said, it's the law, it's those little changes, you know, it's switching out this body wash for a more natural body wash it's, you know, this cleaning product for you, you know, telling you good old fashioned lemon juice. Hello. Now it's so easy and it's disinfecting and it's cheap. And I guess some people don't want to do that.

No, you don't have time to make that, but I've researched companies who are creating that clean, toxic, where you buy it like you do everything else. Yeah. It's just a matter of switching it. I bought this product now instead of this one, just to flip flop and there are products out there that are doing amazing things for sustainability.

Oh yeah, no, no pro no plastics, no, there, all of their stuff is biodegradable. Yep. There are easy ways to do it. So there are the DIY wires that love doing that. There are the people who just don't want to have to worry about it and just want to know, okay, what else do I buy? Right. Dibble and dabble in different things.

But it's like you blindly walked into the grocery store and pick something off the shelf. Start thinking about that. Finally, pick the look for a product that won't have all that junk in it. And I think that's the important part is just one little piece of her. Spittle It is. And it's so it is, it is very overwhelming when you go into the store because you have the whole aisle lineup of everything and all-natural doesn't necessarily stand out well,

and there's a reason why advertising and marketing do that. Plus, you go for that name brain recognition. So your, your research and my research and the research that other colleagues in our circle are, are doing, and being able to put out resources and information and, and, you know, here's a list of things that, you know, you could substitute out.

It would be fantastic because again, it's, it's so overwhelming. You have so many choices, you know, the big stores. Oh gosh, they're so overwhelming. You don't know what you're getting. Yeah. Sometimes. Well, and a lot of the times, and then what frustrates me even further and here I'm on my soapbox and I'm sorry,

but I'm standing beside you going And now name brands you see, and there because natural and organic are now buzzwords. Yep. Have those natural organic products. Now you flip that label over maybe one thing, maybe because the FDA says, Nope, It has to be like, I mean, a small, small percentage that allows them to put that on there.

So we're again, tricked because we are starting to see a move into more of a nontoxic lifestyle, an organic lifestyle, but we're tricked. And these companies that are giving us the toxic stuff, how are you going to have a lab or a warehouse that has toxic stuff over here and not in hock sucks stuff over here? Like what kind of mission or vision is that for it?

Right. It's capital it's money. It's, that's all it is. Yeah. And nontoxic stuff that they have over in this corner just means they have one product that's not going to kill you. Right. Right. That's literally all it once. Yeah. It's surprising there the the the wording and the regulations on what can be claimed organic.

Like what percentage something it's very small. It's a very small percentage of something in a product, and it can, it can get that organic name or all-natural. So becoming familiar with what that, what that is is, is daunting. But the research is out there. If you go to credible sources. And that's the other thing too,

is if you're going to end up going out and doing your own credible Reese, you know, research and make sure that it's a credible source because anybody can post anything hanging on the net. So it's just, it's a complete mindset change. It's a behavioral change. And I'm, I'm, you know, I'm happy to, to see what these newer generations are doing,

because they are so much more informed. They are so much more vocal. They're aware of what's going on. You might, my daughter's 10. And she's so aware of what's going on because she's, you know, online a lot, listening to things and watching things and hearing, hearing people talk. And I feel like there's a hope that there's going to be a big change.

I think back to that young girl that, stood before the UN and spoke and was so passionate. And I mean, it was just like, it was a, it was a plead, you know, but millions of people heard her and I'm so proud that she stood up at her young age and spoke her mind about the way the world is going.

And if we don't start taking care of it, it's not going to be able to take care of us and Evidence of that. Yeah. And to, to dive into that, even more, we have evidence of it. And when the world shut down, India was able to see for the first time the skies, they didn't have the Smaug LA,

it was the same thing. I mean, there is a small problem which is terrible, So bad. Yeah. And you could actually see, and that was only within a few weeks. It's amazing. The earth can regenerate fast. And we saw that. I mean, there were so many, like just outstanding things that happened for the earth, but we go right back to the exact thing.

We didn't learn anything. No is a Testament the earth like if we just one person at a time if I change my ways and you change your ways and I help one or two, or like, what happens if we actually help a hundred people start to think differently and pull those things out of the trash and the landfills and all of the candles that are being burned are now clean.

And they're not, you know, adding orange, all of the problems that we have with our air pollution. That's all we can do. I think that that's why your business is so important. And what we're doing together is important, but educated and not, you know, for anyone who's going to be watching and listening, like it doesn't have to be overwhelming.

Let other people who are their mission is this to just start changing one little thing at a time. And that one thing I promise will make a huge difference. And then the next month you add another thing. And before you know it, a few years from now, everything's going to be clean in your home and you will be feeling so much better.

Like just don't let it be overwhelming. No, no, I, I think back it's, we've been together for 18 years or so. It seems like forever. And I'm so blessed to have you in my life. But one of the biggest shocks that I had was, you know, cause when you go into, you know, a salon and you,

you get that, smell, that chemical smell, that perms permanent smell. And you just think about what we did to our heads, you know, in, in the eighties and the curly perms and, but your product awareness of, and, and again, not, not promoting any, any one thing, but OAA is fantastic. And I just,

it was so nice to be in your salon and be around you and your team and feel like I, wasn't gonna walk out with a ton of chemicals on my head and my hair is healthier because of it. It's growing like a crazy girl because it's so healthy. And I really attribute that, to you and your mindfulness and, and your team.

And I just, I appreciate you in so many ways, not being an awesome hairstylist, but a good friend and a business coach and a spiritual coach too. So, I mean, you're just like the total package girl. It means the world to me because we have been friends for so long and I've been doing your hair for like you said,

I mean like 18, whatever years, but you were with me when we were using the crazy because that's all we had. That was it. And I was not educated enough in, I was brainwashed with just like everybody else. Like, this is what you use. It's fine. We'll be fine. Like what other options do I have?

And when I had that light bulb moment with my kids, it changed my entire world Major shift in a very short amount of time. And you just, you did it, you know, and that's, that's the power of passion and the power of care. And we want to be around to see our kids grow up and, and do things.

And so any little step we take to become more clean is going to help us prolong our involvement in this world. You know, we, we get one shot at this. And so why do we want to sabotage ourselves by filling our homes with, or our bodies, with things that are going to shorten that or increase our likelihood of being in the hospital, is a no-go for me.

No, I don't want any of that. And you know, as you said, I did do a very, But that's my personality. Yeah. It has to be like that. But what happened was I became conscious and I couldn't turn it off. There was no way that I could go out and buy something without reading the ingredients, looking deeper into it.

It just was not possible. So I've done a time, research, which my entire life, not only did I switch my home stuff, but the entire salon from the second I found out that I could buy a better brand and switch my colors and switch everything over. I did the research for quite a few months, tested it all out, made sure that it worked for where I needed it and for my clients

because I want it to give you the same results, but healthier. And then once I saw that that was working, it was like overnight. I decided to just get rid of everything, but this is just a testament to how passionate I am about the topic, about getting rid of the toxins in my life. My clients' lives, my family's lives saving the earth.

We can do this. I know that we can. Yeah. I just want one thing at a time to help and to guide people and to show them that it is possible. And that's why I was so aggressive with it. And that's why it's brought me to this, to what I do today. And the coaching is taking that, that all the toxins,

not only in our air and on our skin, but in our minds because that's the, once we unlock that and we are conscious, my whole life has changed for the better. When you open yourself up to possibility, those possibilities become realities. And, and it's just, it's an amazing thing. It's just an amazing thing. And it's hard because we get into this negative mindset set and you know,

you get that negative loop cycle going on and on and on and on. But you know, recently I've had some real moments of clarity and, and I'm just, I'm happy to be where I am right now. And I really think that it's just because it's all starting to click, you know, I'm, I'm giving myself up to possibility and that's,

that's huge because I've held myself back a lot. You know, fear doesn't have time, which is just an excuse. You know, it's the story, it's the story you tell yourself. But for me, I can't make big changes in a short amount of time. I've realized about myself cause I've tried it and it hasn't worked. So I make these little changes all along and,

and that's, what's going to get me to my end goal. So I applaud you, cause you were aggressive. You were like, wow. It's like what five weeks between my, my sessions with you and I come in one week and it's this way. And I come back five, six weeks later and it was like completely changed. The whole salon changed.

I'm like, woo fast when she's on a mission. So I mean, it's just, it's, it's not about what everybody else is doing. It's what, what works, and resonates with you for me. And so for me, I'm more like the tortoise, you know, slow and steady. It's going to win the race. That's what You're supposed to.

When you are aligned with what you're supposed to do is going to work out for you. You can't act as fast as I can because we're not the same people. But the important part is that you open up that consciousness once you open up that stream and you really feel into it and you don't hold yourself back, you just allow yourself to be, it's like it automatically happens for you,

whether it is slow that's okay. Because slow is going to put it into motion and it's going to lock it in as a new normal for you. Yep. My personality is just different. I have literally lived my entire life acting fast and it's not because I'm trying to be, you know, somebody it's literally just who I am. Right. For me,

if I go slower pace, I, it will, I don't know. I, it lessens or I just don't get into a routine if I act really fast and start switching things over, that's what works for me. I realized that that makes me so much easier to be a leader and help others because I've been able to act faster and put it into place.

Right. You've done all the legwork for all of us. I mean, you've really, you know, you've, you've Bush hogged the path. And, and so now for us, it's just like, I'm just going to stroll and just kind of stroll on and follow you. And, and so it's, I just, I appreciate you. And I appreciate Natasha and I appreciate so many other folks in our circle that are we're coming together as a unified force to help spread the word and,

and provide resources to folks. I mean, I could talk all day about, you know, soy, wax and wicks and candles and, and, and bore people to tears, or it might excite them or inspire them to be more conscious. And, and so one of the things that I hear is that when people come back to buy a product

because we're, we're mostly at, we are online, but we're, you know, we're mostly at the farmer's markets and we like going out and meeting people is when they come back, it's like, this is the most long-lasting candle that I've ever had and it doesn't produce smoke and it doesn't produce. So it, and I don't get that black funkiness on the inside and I can bring my container back to you and you'll refill it.

Like, yeah, I don't want to go into the landfill. You know, I don't want, I don't want to have any packaging that doesn't biodegrade or, or isn't reusable in some way, shape, or form. That's why we acquire so much stuff. You know, I've just, I've enjoyed being able to get the most out of the containers that I have by refilling them.

And you don't, you don't get that. You can't walk back into the store that you bought something from and say, can you refill this for me? But the nice thing is, is that several naturally minded companies are coming up with those biodegradable refill packs. So for like my room sprays, I have the little refill packs, they're eight-ounce refill packs.

You don't have to buy the glass again, or the pump again, you just refill and it's, it's fantastic. And it takes up less space and it's just cleaner. And that's the way your products are too. So, you know, I just, I think there's, we're, you know, we're going to have a, what I call lower Northern Virginia movement.

It's, it's the Manassas Gainesville market, more into an Amesville movement. It's going to take over the world. Well, and that's where we start. And that's why all of this is so powerful. And I, I get so like giddy about, I really talk for hours and hours about this because it will make such a big difference for literally everyone.

And when we change our mindset on how we can do things, how we can make our lives better, our planet's life better. Then all of a sudden these pieces start coming together and we can, as, as a whole and a collective, we can start raising and changing the vibration of this world. We can start making such a huge difference with small,

teeny-tiny steps. And that is powerful. Every one of us can play a part in it, whether you are moving slow or whether you're ready to take action and change everything, or if you're somewhere in the middle, okay. Recognize that within yourself and only take the cha action that you can take, It has to resonate with you. Otherwise, it's foreign and it feels uncomfortable.

And then you're not gonna, you're not going to stick with it. And I've tried to push myself. And just, this is me speaking personally, I've tried to push myself to be like other folks or other methods or other practices. And, and it just didn't resonate with me. And I think that's kind of where, and you've been telling me this for years where I've gotten stuck.

And, and so it has to resonate with you because then that's acceptance. And, and so I'm finally there. Thank goodness. It finally happened. It's about darn time. You said you moved slow. You need it, man. But you know, it just seems counterintuitive because I'm so passionate and aggressive about other things, you know, being a teacher,

I love teaching and I love sharing knowledge and having conversations. And, and so I can be that more powerful influencer in that arena and feel very comfortable. But for myself personally, it just it's like I took a long way around to get to where I needed to be. And all things happen in time. I'm a firm believer that the more you push the less attainable things are,

you just have to sit back and let things come. And, and it's finally, it's finally happened. Jacquelyn is finally here. So excited for you, because like you said, I mean, I've been on this journey with you for a long time, but you had to see your own things at the timing. That was right. I mean, anybody,

like, I can talk to you or my kids or anybody else till I'm blue in the face. And I'm like shaking my kids. I know, I know. I know. Yeah. But they have to see it in their own time. Because if not, it's not going to resonate with them. It won't be a long-term change. It will be something like a blip.

And then they go right back to, Yeah. Yeah. Funny that it just happened right around the time of our meditation session two months ago. It's funny how that, that happened. You were right about the whole change thing And they can powerful. And those tools help you. Meditation mindfulness getting centered is literally what changed my life, doing them regularly,

because it actually switches something inside of you. And when you're allowed to switch something, that's holding you back and feel a little freedom, all of a sudden that the pieces and not within yourself, but you start putting out what you truly want in the universe. And when the universe and God and everything around us start to hear what you have actually decided on.

All of a sudden those pieces start showing up. It's the same with my box. I'm trying to launch this thing. And I was holding myself back and I'm like, Oh, well, do I, do I do this? Or do I do that? And then all of a sudden I made a decision and I said, no, I'm just going to do it this way.

Right. Wrong, whatever. It doesn't matter. I'm going to do it this way. Then all of a sudden I'm like, literally getting messages going, Hey, I'm looking for this. Do you have something like that? I'm like, why You just happened to hit at the right moment. Exactly. But it's making the decision and then allowing the universe Into your pain open,

you have to be open. So, yeah, that's pretty awesome. I, I'm so glad to be on this journey with you. And I'm honored that you, you thought of me when it comes to contributing a piece to your boxes because that is just, that's just the best compliment. I do enjoy being really creative with these and mixing the sense and placing,

you know, I'm sitting there with my tweezers, I'm putting each of the stones and I'm like, okay, this has gotta be right. He's gotta be right. And when it's like off-center, I'm like, Oh yeah, but that's, that's where the world wanted it. Just good to go with it. And, and so I'm reminded again that that uniqueness and individuality and acceptance are so important that I don't want to be cookie cutter.

I don't want to be like mass production of things. It's okay. That two candles don't look the same. It's a natural product and things in nature are not always the same. So, you know, why am I trying to make it that way? And again, just letting go and be like, you know what, little stone,

little flower, if that's where you want to be, that's where you're going to be, because the intention is still there and we're just going to spread the good. So anyway, thank you. I really, appreciate being part of this journey with you and I'm looking forward to the next 50 years with you. And honestly, you, I believe in you so much and you know,

I've always seen so much good. And I know that you're passionate about what goes into your product and, and you care so much. That's what I wanted in my boxes because I put that same passion. Like if, I mean, really like if you look outside and you're, you're looking at different things, like who cares if the sticker is biodegradable and the backing of the sticker is biodegradable.

I do, I absolutely keep the sticker on there. And the consumer would have no knowledge or, I mean, some would care, but like, that was important to me. I'm just being true to who I am. And that box is it's me in a box. And then the membership that comes along with it just further is me. That's just so exciting.

I'm being, it's like the box is the doormat, it's the welcome sign. And once you get into the membership,  it's like, Oh my gosh, like you're in the coziest place because you have all of those resources for you and you've got people to talk to. And it's just, it's just an amazing thing.

And I'm not sure that I, you know, there are lots of other places that give boxes and so forth and have their monthly boxes, but that's where it stops. You. You've set yourself apart in opening up to so much more. And, and that's what people need for those that need it. Not everybody's going to,

they're just going to like their box and they're going to get it monthly and it's going to be totally awesome. And, but for those that want a little bit more, that is that's there for them. Yeah. And the membership was a huge piece for me because my whole mission is I want I'd love stuff. I mean, it bridged my salon and all my products together beautifully with what I want to do in the world is making people more conscious,

letting them tap into their intuition, learning how to go with it. That causes the second you learn how to go within and you start intuition, your life changes for the best and it did it. And that's all I want to share. And then we, I get to geek out a little bit more and get to tell you all the amazing thing,

you know, why I chose these things and how breaking through those walls that you're constantly standing in your own way. I was doing the same thing. So having that piece of the membership was so important to me, I'm basically giving it away. Like the box price right now is the price of the box. And the membership is just because I care so much and I need to be able to share this so that I can help change other people's lives right now,

you know, those later, but I'm just so glad that you're a part of it because you have the same heart, you have the same missions and that is everything in those boxes. Every person that's going to be contributing to. It has the same vision that I do. And that was important to me because there are so many of us out there,

but we need a place to collectively come together and work together. Yep. Agreed, agreed. I'm excited. Me too. It's been amazing to have you here and talking, and this has been just a nice normal conversation. Oh, it's this is the first time I've ever done anything like this. You know, that I don't normally put myself out there.

So this is again, my being open to the possibilities and, and my awesome fate. And so it was very comfortable. I highly recommend it. It's almost like therapy. So, you know, I feel like I can go forward with my day and I just, I feel good. I feel light. And so I just, I appreciate this.

And I'm happy, to be a part of this journey with you. And I'm so appreciative of you and life and just the missions that we're going to continue to do. Thank you for being on the show. I did. And I loved what we were talking about. It's important, it's impactful. And I truly hope for everybody listening that you,

you see that this doesn't have to be a hard, stressful journey taking one step at a time. And just following people who already have put things into place will help you open your mind and just start implementing little things and you don't have to do it like everybody else right now, when you were talking earlier about like, you have to do it, your,

you know, your way, your pace, and it has to be impactful for you. It's the same that it was impactful for me in a different way, but we're here to lead you to guide you, to hold your hand, to help you, and to show you other ways of doing things that you can choose, whether it works for you or not.

But the thing is being conscious, opening up your mind, aligning with what's important to you. That's the thing that's going to change you. Thank you so much for listening today. Please make sure that you go over to the blog and follow all the links for our guests and get the downloads that we talked about. I would also really love and appreciate it if you would share this podcast with your friends and family.
